Fine Gael
Party 1

Incumbent :

Main message to voters:

I want to continue working hard to spread the recovery in rural Ireland. If re-elected, Fine Gael in Govt is committed to delivering more new jobs in the regions, so we can continue to reduce taxes in a sustainable way and invest more in public services and improve people's standard of living.

Election history:

I was elected to the Dáil in 2011, when I became the first female TD to be elected for Fine Gael in the Cavan/Monaghan constituency. I was appointed as Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in July 2014. Previously, I served on Monaghan County Council, including as Mayor in 2009.

  1. Build on progress made in growing jobs in the regions. Unemployment is down in Cavan & Monaghan by about one third - I want to continue that progress.
  2. Ensuring rural families feel the recovery by strengthening supports to farmers & SMEs & improving links between businesses and the education sector.
  3. Continue to increase investment in our arts, cultural and heritage sectors, which are so important to local communities right across Ireland.
