Main message to voters:

Having moved from economic chaos to stability & growth, we must now ensure every home benefits from recovery. I stand strong in supporting Cork - Cork Airport, education, housing, tourism & transport. I have handled difficult & sensitive issues in a new & mature way & led campaigns for change.

Election history:

2011 Elected TD for Cork South Central and serving as Chairperson of the Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children 2007 Elected to Senate on the Labour Panel 2007 General Election Candidate in Cork South Central 2004 Elected to Cork City Council – topping the poll with 22.7% of the total vote

Priorities:

  1. Creating new jobs is vital for the people of Cork so we must continue to support local businesses and bring new employers to Cork.
  2. Continuing to reform health services to ensure equal access to care and increased services for older people and people with disabilities.
  3. Ensuring that the benefits of economic recovery reach every home in Cork, by continuing to invest in services and facilities and cutting tax.
