Main message to voters:

The forthcoming election will be important and challenging for Labour. Our objective will be to move away from austerity towards a better managed and sustainable prosperity that will be shared equitably and not skewed towards those with most wealth and highest incomes.

Election history:

Councillor since 2003 (over 12 years) for the Killiney-Shankill Local Electoral Area (formerly Ballybrack Ward). Co-opted to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in 2003 and re-elected in the Local Elections in 2004, 2009 and 2014. First time candidate for the Dáil. Cathaoirleach 2013/2014.

Priorities:

  1. Prioritise and tackle with the utmost determination the housing crisis for those on the housing list and those wishing to purchase their first home.
  2. Aim at full employment, decent wages, and the restoration and eventual enhancement of services in childcare, education, health and social protection.
  3. Ensure we make it possible for individuals, families and communities to live and prosper in a more just, caring and equal society.
