Main message to voters:

The challenges posed by Brexit means the coming years will be crucial for the border counties and the wider North-West region. Our biggest requirement post Brexit will be infrastructural investment. This region needs experienced voices in the European Parliament pursuing a positive agenda.

Election history:

Brendan has served as TD for Cavan-Monaghan since 1992. Brendan was a Minister of State from 2004-2008, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries & Food between 2008 and 2011 before being appointed as Minister for Justice & Law Reform in 2011. Brendan chairs the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs Committee.

Priorities:

  1. Tackling the economic and social threats posed by Brexit and protecting the Good Friday Agreement in all Brexit scenarios
  2. Protect our agriculture and fisheries Sectors via budget and policy measures, including a fairer reformed CAP that helps hard pressed farm families
  3. Address Climate Change challenges to protect our environment and safeguard agriculture and the economy.
