Independent

Government needs to be turned inside out; all doors open; sweeping transparency, Media needs to be turned back to front; compiling public conversation for government review; accountability at every corner. How? Live public feed to all public accounts and any conversations related to spending.

Priorities

  • Taxes and charges

You should be able to see your tax enter and exit public accounts and engage in conversation related to decision of how that money is spent.

  • Other

Awareness, autonomy & culture to move use to a more safe and accepting society with a more transparent and accountable government. No more fiddling.

  • Other

Become more aware; public data fed to the public in a digestible way. Have more choice; regular debate over data and how/why/etc. money is spent.

Housing
4 of 21 questions
The Council should increase the percentage of social and affordable housing in all new developments
  • Agree
  • Neither agree nor disagree
  • Disagree
  • No opinion
Comment: "Build houses from scratch, develop our own cost saving processes, coupled with a rent-mortgage-ownership credit system that all works together to create an efficient system. This is the only way to build housing that isn’t vulnerable to changes in cost due to external facts…. We do it ourselves. "

  • Agree
  • Neither agree nor disagree

This will give us a better chance at integrating and working together which would make building of accommodation a part of our reconciliation together. It shouldn’t be forced. "

  • Agree
  • Neither agree nor disagree
  • Disagree
  • No opinion
Comment: "Public transport needs better monitoring, gps on all buses and feedback from users whether they feel safe or not. If the bus isn’t on time or if people don’t feel safe then it does’t matter how much money you spend it will still be limping. Invest in sense of safety first then study how use changes"

10 of 21 questions
Too many bike lanes are being built in Limerick
  • Agree
  • Neither agree nor disagree
  • Disagree
  • No opinion
Comment: "We need digestible data on this for public debate. If bike lanes were sheltered it would be a game changer. I would propose a cost efficient sheltering of one or two areas to test its effect on use. In some ways they are a seasonal addon and we need to discuss do certain roads have room for them. "

Comment: "It would be a good idea if we went out and did these things ourselves rather than handing them over to foreign companies that subsequently take a lions share of profit and reduce the transparency and accountability of the project. • Agree
  • Neither agree nor disagree
  • Disagree
  • No opinion
Comment: "The people of Limerick should be able to vote on the use of these buildings, should they go to asylum seekers, the homeless or should they be youth centers. Without hearing the voice of the community in the area we are assuming our proposal is right and that their input is unnecessary. "

Limerick should accommodate a proportionate share of the asylum seekers who come to Ireland
  • Agree
  • Neither agree nor disagree
  • Disagree

Comment: "We should do our fair share, like everyone else. But we also have the right to transparency and accountability from our government in that process. We should have the right to refuse such cases where agreed upon T&Cs, P&Ps are ignored. We should vet where the government hasn’t and send them the bill"
